Diseases Often Carried By Rats

Rats are identical to their habitats which are always dirty, with such habitats it is undeniable that mice “carry” various types of diseases. Diseases that are often carried by rats can develop into serious disorders if not treated properly. The way they spread this disease by biting or scratching, even contamination from rat urine can spread this disease too.
1. Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS)
This disease is a disease caused by mice. The spread starts from urine, feces, and saliva. Even inhaling this virus can spread the disease.
2. Murine Typhus
Another disease is murine typhus, which is spread by fleas on mice. Usually, this disease infects mice that live in a tropical climate.
3. Rat-Bite Fever (RBF)
From the name, we can be sure that this disease spreads from rat bites. The bite of a rat infected with the Streptobacillus moniliformis virus is the cause. It can even occur through contaminated food or water.
4. Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by the bacterium Leptospira interrogans which is spread through the urine or blood of animals such as mice infected with this bacterium. The disease is spread through contaminated water or soil. This bacterial infection is common in flood-affected areas.
5. Eosinophilic Meningitis
Eosinophilic Meningitis is an infection of the brain that occurs due to an increase in the number of worm infections that penetrate the body. The main cause of this disease is a rat lungworm named Angiostrongylus cantonensis
Rats are not just ordinary pests that disturb, damage property, and don’t give a clean impression. But rats can be a real threat to families with the various diseases they can carry. Prevent diseases that are often carried by rats by controlling rats.
